Container Tracking
The challenges of global supply chain management (SCM) have never been greater. Increased outsourcing, shrinking product lifecycles, intensifying economic pressures, and constant changes in supply, demand, and product make supply chain optimization harder than ever.
Our Real-time container tracking Solution customers drive higher margins by optimizing and expediting key processes using RFID based data collection points at process points across the Supply Chain. Automate the tracking at loading points, exit gates, entry gates and unloading points throughout manufacturing plants, ports, distribution centers, warehouses and receiving docks at retail and wholesale locations. Ensure visibility of your goods at each node and confirm anti-tampering along the entire route.
Protect your high-value shipments using RFID based e-Seal. Therefore ensure authenticity and traceability of custody along the entire supply chain.
When importing across borders using e-Manifest or even trading domestically ensure your suppliers, shippers and logistic providers can trace and provide integrity of your shipment as it changes hands across the supply chain. Supply Chain Software and tamper evident electronic seals guarantee this.
Be green and reduce processing time at your Supply Chain pressure points through use of our wireless detection technology along the way. Up to 25% of time spent processing shipments can be reduced using customized ERP and e-Seal wireless technology.
Third Party Logistic Providers, 3PLs and Tucking companies use e-Seals and our Global Track and Trace Software as an Alarm system in Truck Yards to detect any intrusions in real-time. Use it as a Yard Management Solution and as a theft deterrent.
It is estimated that over 200 billion dollars are lost by retailers every year in North America alone due to counterfeits very often introduced in transit from the supplier to the retailer. Return fraud is a major problem costing up to 14 billion each year according to NRF. E-Seal technology can prevent such losses for retailers by securing their shipments.
Supply Chain systems can rely on e-Seal to enforce trade every step of the way:
- Supplier Order Management System: Is the shipment departing distribution points on time?
- Claims Management System: Where and when was a shipment tampered with?
- Product Lifecycle Management System: How quick are we moving shipments from supplier to Retailer, was it open in transit?
- Customer Order Management System: Where is my shipment? Has it been open or is intact?
- Hosted EDI: I can get through customs within a few minutes instead of waiting for inspection
- Merchant Payment: My goods were received when we said they would be received
Geo mapping software and Fleet Management solutions integrated with GPS and Cell Networks provide visibility of trucks, containers, trailers, semi-trailers. Freight security is important to transport organizations independently of being on the road or on a sea vessel.
Our solution can prevent the actual opening of a door in transit by sealing the shipment with RFID based e-Seal e-Manifest . Sea bound containers are tracked using Satellite signal. Trucks are tracked using Fleet Management Software and on board GPS integrated with e-Seals. Integrate and automate also using
Integrated with GPS/Cell networks know where your high-value shipment is, the status of the shipment or truck and detect if it has been compromised in real-time. Ensure supply chain visibility and cargo visibility at all times. View on a user graphical interface and map views to geographically locate your cargo. Detect if a shipment is suspect, re-routed, in process of theft all in real-time.
Business Problem
Globalization has established a permanent exchange of goods and services, operating 24/7 across the entire globe. The increase in world trade has become a challenge for the many players involved while creating tremendous business opportunities for outfits like M-ID Cargo Solutions.
Current trends that have evolved include:
- 90% of global trade will be containerized by the end of 2010 with annual growth of 10%
- The ability of Government Border Agencies to cope with this level of trade has been challenging, proving that there is a lack of capacity
- Governments desire to streamline domestic and international trade while maintaining safe borders from the entry of illegal goods since 9/11 and an increase in drug and black market trade
- There is a need to improve and reduce barriers to global trade
- A desire to gain increased control over payment of duties and taxes and be enabled to implement Green Lanes.
- A need for Law Enforcement agencies to receive more accurate and real time feedback about illegal goods
The problem for retailers with large supply chains and transportation/logistics companies:
- Theft of merchandise and counterfeiting
- Large amounts of time spent on processing during receiving
- Time spent clearing goods at customs
- Additional accuracy needed to track goods shipments
- Ports need to improve congestion and streamlining of processes to handle freight by automating the reading of seals
- Border delays causing financial expenses and impeding trade for importing/exporting companies and trucking, boating, rail and air shipping companies and facilities
- Need a reduction in delays and to obtain improved visibility and security of cargo in transit, with a desire to reduce financial costs, and provide faster delivery to markets
The U.S. and Canadian governments have tried to solve the problem by:
- Establishing “Trust” programs with cross-border shipping companies. Trucking, Boat, Rail, Air in U.S./Canada: eManifest, C-TPAT, CSI (see Appendix E for programs)
- Automating the processes using Information Technology to process electronically
- Increase Government staff to monitor, supervise and process shipments
There is still a void to be filled with these Government solutions:
- They cannot guarantee the integrity of contents within a container
- They cannot guarantee the goods in a shipment are the same from origin to border entry
- They cannot guarantee that additional non-reported, non-compliant or illegal products have not been added to shipments
- They cannot guarantee goods have not been removed from the container before border arrival
